Canada is one the most diligent country of the world to care about environment. Now, their truck could produce hydrogen, resulting in enhanced horsepower and fuel economy ― only that.
The add-on system, called Hydrogen Injection System (HFI), created by Ontario-based Canadian Hydrogen Energy Company, does not initially need hydrogen. It produces its own ‘food’ via on-board electrolysis unit, then delivers it to the fuel tank. The gas becomes leaner, making a 10%-bump combustion efficiency and reducing emissions.
As the truck goes, it revitalizes its electrical battery, whom a tiny portion will feed the HFI unit. No lost energy and money saving ― $700 a month per truck, according to Sherwin Fast, president of Great Plains Truck.
The HFI heavy system was intended for big duty trucks, those which eat up to 16 liters in displacement. Since the end of 2005, CHEC also provide the HFI light system, for passenger vehicles and duty vans.
